Pan-European R&E network operator selects IMS as part of their OSS stack for network management.

ALKMAAR, NL — 15 June 2021 — VC4 B.V. announced this week that as part of their network modernisation, GÉANT has completed the go-live activities for their new inventory management system, IMS. This all-encompassing project has enabled the team at GÉANT to continue with network planning, management and troubleshooting while under Covid-19 lockdown across Europe.

Together with its National Research and Education Network (NREN) partners, GÉANT interconnects more than 50 million users at 10.000 institutions in pursuit of scientific advancements. With a network speed of up to a terabit per second, the GÉANT backbone network transfers more than 1.4 petabytes of data every day. Their network is an outstanding example of European collaboration and innovation.

With previous experience in the NREN community, the selection of VC4 B.V. was strategic for the success of GÉANT. Replacing existing tooling across the organisation, the upgrade project needed to be purpose fit for each department. Working alongside the technical team at VC4, GÉANT was able to benefit from the standard offering of VC4’s flagship product, IMS, with minor customisations.
